Why Is Everyone Talking About Beauty Pie?

What is Beauty Pie?

Beauty Pie is the latest brainchild from entrepreneur Maria Kilgore, who was also behind uber successful brands such as Soap & Glory, FitFlop, Bliss Spas and Soaper Duper. Beauty Pie is a subscription beauty club, but unlike Birchbox or Glossybox, the monthly subscription fee gives you access to luxury cosmetics at factory prices.

Why is everyone raving about them?

First of all, Beauty Pie offers luxury beauty products made in the same factories as some of the world's biggest luxury beauty brands. Copying and pasting the ingredients of some of Beauty Pie's products into Google brings up similar products from some very notable brands. Most importantly, however, Beauty Pie is offering their products at factory prices and every product shows the transparent costs it took to produce, and that is the exact price that you pay as a consumer. It's pretty much revolutionary, and with over 200 products to be launched this year (including skin care), it's an exciting proposition.

How much does is cost?

Membership is £10 per month for a minimum of 3 months, and this gives you an allowance of £100 per month (that's £100 at the RRP price, so about 3-6 products). If you don't use all/any of your allowance, then it does roll over to the next month. Postage is around £6 which does add up to the overall cost, but they do recommend ordering every few months instead to make the most of this. If you sign up for the annual plan, you also get a gift with purchase.

Products I purchased:

Now, this is my favourite product out of everything that I ordered; it's so different from any other highlighter I own in that it almost has the consistency of a foundation. As a result, it is super easy to blend and also looks beautiful mixed in with a fuller coverage base.

2. FUTURELIPSTICK  (Matte in Hot Saucy & Satin in Knockout Punch) - £2.44 each for members

I bought Knockout Punch as it looked closer to the kind of lipsticks that I would wear on a daily basis and the matte lipstick in Hot Saucy was a bit of a rogue purchase, but I ended up liking this one the most. I'm never really a fan of matte lipsticks as I always find them so drying and uncomfortable to wear, but this was surprisingly pleasant; not too matte and with a beautiful, long-lasting colour payoff. I will definitely pick up more of the matte lipsticks next month.

3. SUPER LUMINOUS CONCEALER (Light 200) - £2.81 for members

Unfortunately this was my least favourite product of the bunch, one reason is that the concealer was in the wrong shade. As you can see below it is far too dark for my complexion, whilst I can easily pick up another next month in the right shade the consistency is not to my personal taste. This is a very thick concealer that did not blend easily, whilst I imagine that fans of a high coverage look would love this I think I will stick to my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.

All in all I'm really impressed and I am definitely looking forward to trying more products from Beauty Pie, the skincare launch in particular sounds exciting
